Terms of Service

Last updated 3 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Tarmac, operated by Cayman Pty Ltd (ABN 69 622 061 429). By creating an account you agree to them. Questions: [email protected].

The service

Tarmac reads tech job ads, works out which skills each role asks for, and shows you the skills you're missing for the role you want. It also serves practice questions from a reviewed, fixed bank, grades your answers, runs code you submit against test cases, and builds a quiz from a job description you paste. The market figures are measurements of the ads we collect, not advice, and nothing here guarantees any interview or hiring outcome.

Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, so keep access to that inbox secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. One account is for one person; don't share it.

Acceptable use

When using Tarmac you agree not to:

  • Use the code runner to attack, scan, or send unsolicited traffic to other systems, to mine cryptocurrency, or to run anything unrelated to answering a question.
  • Probe, overload, or try to bypass the rate limits, sandboxing, or access controls.
  • Scrape or bulk-extract the question bank, or resell or redistribute its content.
  • Share your account, or use the service on behalf of someone who hasn't agreed to these terms.

We may suspend accounts that do these things.

Plans and billing

The free plan is free and capped at a number of practice sessions and graded answers per 30 days, shown on the pricing section. Pro removes those caps and adds the part that's about you: what to learn first for your role, how close you are skill by skill, and feedback on your written answers. Pro is sold three ways:

  • Job Hunt Pass: one payment for three months of Pro. It does not renew; access ends when the three months are up.
  • Monthly: billed each month until you cancel.
  • Annual: billed each year until you cancel.

Monthly and annual plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the app; cancellation stops future charges and your Pro access runs to the end of the period you've paid for. Payments are processed by Stripe. Refunds are covered by the refund policy.

Your content

The answers and code you submit, and the job descriptions you paste, stay yours. You grant us permission to process them to run and grade your practice, as described in the privacy policy. The question bank, taxonomy, and the software are ours and stay ours.

Availability and liability

We work to keep Tarmac available and its grading accurate, but the service is provided "as is". Grading of open-ended answers and code quality is done by a model and can be wrong; treat it as feedback, not a verdict. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.

Ending your access

You can stop using Tarmac and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for a breach of these terms, or if we stop offering the service. If that happens we'll give paid accounts reasonable notice.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we'll update the date above and tell you by email. Continuing to use Tarmac after a change means you accept the updated terms.
